Telesto Hat pattern – PDF DOWNLOAD ONLY

Telesto was an Ancient Greek goddess of accomplishment and was one of the Nephelae, or cloud and rain deities. Rain was not thought of as dreary or depressing in ancient times; it was seen as essential for flourishing. Nephelae brought waters from the ocean to feed the streams and rivers of the earth, bringing nourishment to the lands. ‘Telesto’ means ‘success’, which I hope you will feel while knitting and then wearing this beanie!

As rain was not bleak in ancient times, nor do the raindrops detailed on the beanie signify sadness or grey skies. Instead, they are imbued with positivity and new beginnings, soaking in to the wearer’s mind, bringing success, hope, and all things wonderful. I hope you feel comforted by this warm, squishy hat, both during the soothing simple knitting process, and while snuggled up inside the hat!

Materials/notions required:
Yarn: 2 balls of The Australian Wool Store superfine merino 8 ply in sweetpea, 50gm/117m each (you will need about 60-65 grams)
Needles: 4mm (US 6) DPNs or 40” circular needle; you could also use a 16” circular plus either DPNs or longer circular needle for decreasing the crown
Notions: 1 stitch marker, tapestry needle to weave in ends

Gauge:
24 sts and 30 rounds over 4” (10cm) in Raindrop stitch (blocked)

Measurements:
Approx 51.75cm (20.25”) circumference x 22cm (8.75”) length
